Tim Kaye has been President of Phoenix Choir since 2014. This is an active management role which, as well as the administration of the choir – its committee, members, rehearsals and performances – also includes a wide range of tasks from arranging choral and instrumental parts to acting as stand in conductor. Tim has also performed as organist with the choir for its Fauré requiem and Mendelssohn Elijah concerts, and he has also performed solo organ works with the choir including Boëllmann Suite Gothique, Mendelssohn Sonata No.3, and the J.S.Bach Chorale Prelude In Dulci Jubilo.
Tim brings to the role a wealth of management experience from his corporate career in and around the telecoms industry. This has included substantial CEO positions, but also a lot of work negotiating, implementing and managing joint ventures in Australia and across Asia. This collaborative experience is really valuable in working with teams of volunteers to assemble the coalition of amateur and professional musicians that can bring a sense of excellence to community music making.
In his early life, Tim sang in choirs and played the organ, including as organ scholar at Wadham College Oxford. He sacrificed continuing on that path for his corporate career and now takes great joy in making music once again the centre of his life.
Tim is on leave from December 2025.
